James: Building your store is almost as fun as running it. But first, you’ll want to get yourself situated.

Katey: James and I will show you a few key areas you should know about as you get started.

James: To log into your store’s control panel just go to, and click Login. Here you’ll enter your username and password. If you need help just follow the “Forgot Password” link.

Katey: The first time you login to your Bigcommerce store you’ll be asked if you’d like to take a quick tour of your control panel. Got for it! In just a few short moments, you’ll have a great understanding of all the ins and outs of where you can find what you need, when you need it.

James: After that, you’ll land on your “Getting Started” guide. These key steps walk you through the launching your Bigcommerce store. Once you actually click Launch Store your site will be live to the world!

Katey: No matter where you go in your store’s control panel, you can always get back to your “Getting Started” guide by clicking here. However, once you launch your business, this “Getting Started” screen we be replaced with details on your business’s performance so you can help it grow.

James: If you’d ever like to take a look at your storefront, just click this Store icon. This allows you to check out all of your changes from a customer’s perspective. Until you Launch your Store from the Getting Started menu, your shoppers will see a “Store Coming Soon” sign, that looks like this. As the store owner, you’re always able to see your store, even when it’s in private mode.

Katey: If you want to share your store with someone as your building it to perhaps gain some feedback, feel free to share your “Preview Code” with them.

James: Once you’ve Launched your store you can’t go back to private mode. However, if you’d like to put your store down for maintenance at any point you may put it in “Maintenance Mode.” This area will even allow for you to customize your maintenance display message.
